I'm coding some spreadsheet macros in openoffice with basic (sigh),
which I really hate. I don't like python, either, and it's embedding is far from complete, IMHO.
What about trying to embed squirrel into openoffice ? I think it would
boost its usage.... and it seems to me the perfect language for scripting.
Embedding is out of my skills, but maybe somebody could start it, I'd be glad to help ! :-)

Ciao

Are you asking in the wrong place?

Will OpenOffice maintainers take the idea?

Well, that's not needed.... embedding can be made as an extension, as it was done for groovy scripting language, for example.
It shouldn't be a very difficult task if somebody has enough skills on writing openoffice extensions.
AFAIK, besides of embedding the engine, most work could be done in squirrel itself, as all OO access can be done via a single dispatcher object.
